Jagged X scores fifth consecutive Vegas to Reno win!
The BITD "Vegas to Reno" is without a doubt the longest and toughest desert race in the United States.
This year was no exception, 552 miles starting on the desert floor just outside Las Vegas, winding its way through the mountains,
sand washes and even pine trees eventually ending only a few miles from Reno.
One hundred degree temperatures, deep thick silt beds and punishing rock gardens take their toll on those who tackle this event.
With only about half of the field ever even finishing this race, it truly proves how grueling it is.
The new Polarix 900 RZR XP has been a solid performer since its debut at the Silver State 300 event earlier this season, but the
Jagged X crew has spent most of this summer break adjusting, tuning and improving this amazing machine.
With the addition of a Wicked Built power steering system and a new high-flow custom built fresh air intake system, the
Jagged X racing team had great expectations of not only finishing this race, but continuing a tradition by winning it for the fifth year in a row.
A race like this also requires top notch support. With help from Chad Riccio of CR designs,
Blake Van De Loo of Mountain States Contracting and Total Auto Pros in Phoenix, the team was able to create a support
team that is second to none in desert racing - two fully equipped 4WD Chevy chase trucks.
Add a half dozen dedicated knowledgeable team mates and we had a team that was ready to compete.
The field of 14 UTV's was loaded with many great teams sporting solid equipment, lots of experience and great drivers.
The class boasted entries from five different manufacturers all hoping to be a part of the festivities in Reno.
When the flag dropped it did not take long for the Nevada desert to take its toll.
Brandon Schueler with co-driver Mike West wasted no time leaving their seventh starting position behind and picking their way to the front.
By pit 4 only one car separated the 1919 from the lead position and some much needed fresh air.
The always consistent 1932 Polaris RZR 4 of Matt Parks was running strong and was able to hold off the 1919 for over half the race. But after pit 11
the Jagged XP, now piloted by Blake Van De Loo was able to get out front and had a one minute lead coming through the historic town of Gabbs.
While both front runner teams dealt with a few issues throughout the day, in the end the Jagged X Polaris RXR XP 900 was able to dominate the
field and gain their fifth consecutive V2R win.
We have to thank our entire team for their time and dedication to our sport and of course Polaris Industries for their generous support.

Jagged X rolls out a new look with the debut of their RZR 900 XP
With the New Years Day release of the all new RZR 900 XP everyone knew that it would not be long before these awesome machines started to appear at racing venues everywhere.
And so began our quest to create the next level in desert racing UTVs. The first couple months of this project was a seemingly never ending process of planning, measuring,
designing and arguing. There was much debate among the team before a final working concept was settled on. Soon a stack of Chromoly tubing and plate began to take shape
and we knew that this project was going to come together in a big way.
The great guys at Cutting Edge Manufacturing were a huge help with their CAD design and laser cutting abilities. All the pieces were fitting together nicley.
Every aspect of this new vehicle was addressed in some way.
As the various systems came together the only thing we knew for sure was that we were running out of time. The long nights started and did not end until the last hour.
We turned the key to fire the motor for the first time on Friday April 29 at noon. Tech day for the Silver State 300.
We were off to Vegas with our entire test session being one lap around the parking lot. We slid into the parking lot at the Aliante Station with just enough time for
Brandon to sprint to the mandatory drivers meeting. After passing Tech inspection we headed to the hotel where we spent the next several hours making adjustments
and finishing up some last minute details.
Saturday morning came early (4:00am is early) as we headed toward the starting line in Alamo. Before we knew it the new RZR 900XP was off the line and on the
way to it's first finish. Our initial game plan was to try to find a pace that felt safe and keep a close eye on the car with intense inspections at every pit.
So much for that plan when we saw that Brandon was leading the race by pit two. Well, a flat tire took the wind out of that sail.
After an on course tire change we found ourselves still very much in the hunt with a car that felt pretty good.
The intense inspections turned into splash-and-go pits as Brandon and Chad kept the brand new race car right up front.
At pit 4 we made a driver change where Blake Van de Loo and Mike West took over piloting duties. The course between pit 4 and 6 gave Blake a chance to get
into the leaders dust and in pit 6 as the leader Matt Parks was fueling the Jagged X 1919 inched out into the physical lead.
Unfortunately the brakes on the new 1919 car had given up making the last section of the race a bit sketchy.
Blake and Mike were able to hold off the Polaris of Parks but could not quite get the much needed 30 second lead to clinch the win.
All in all the whole Jagged crew is pleased with the debut performance of our new car. We will be back in the shop dialing in this new car in
preparation for the Blue Water Grand Prix in just two short weeks.
In addition to thanking Polaris Industries for it's continued generous support, Jagged X would like to thank all of our product sponsors:
BF Goodrich Tires - Thank you for believing in our concept
Cutting Edge Manufacturing - CAD design and precision laser cutting
Elka Suspension - The best custom shocks and support
Simpson - keeping our drivers safe
CR Designs- Always the best looking car on the track
OMF - Custom off road beadlock wheels
VisionX - Best off road lighting
Summers Brothers - custom axle shafts
Affordable - quality durable coatings
Total Auto Pros - support vehicle products
Walker Evans Racing - Support vehicle wheels
Special thanks to Blake Van de Loo and Mountain States Contracting, Chad Riccio and Mike West for all of your help and support. We could not have done it without you.
Also to Joey D and the great coverage from the UTVUnderground.
Jagged X Wins 2011 Pit Bull Tires King of the Hammers!!!!
After chasing the title for three years the Jagged X / Polaris Racing team has finally earned the right to be called King of The Hammers.
KOH has been coined "the toughest off road race in the world" and for good reason.
This race combines the grueling aspect of long distance desert racing with the sheer punishment of rock racing in one of the most unforgiving places ever, Johnson Valley, CA.
This is home to some of the most difficult rock crawling trails in the world and miles of the most rutted and rocky trails you have ever seen.
Many would not think of driving on these trails let alone racing on them. 2009 marked the first year that UTV's were added to the schedule and it has been a growing event since.
The UTV course is shorter than the main event but still probably the most challenging UTV race known to man.
Race morning welcomed us with sunny skies and temperatures in the low 20's (just one more reason for double layer fire suits).
The UTV field was a who's who of UTV racing with nearly every brand of UTV being represented.
18 racers lined up for a chance at the "King" title this year. The Jagged X boys were cursed in the draw once again starting in the tenth spot.
Two time KOH champ Mitch Guthrie was lined up just two spots ahead of us also driving a Polaris.
Other racers included Jon Crowley of UTVGuide.com, Casey Currie and his Monster Kawasaki, and a well rounded crew from HCR.
All in all one of the best equipped group of UTV's we have ever seen all ready to take on the rock and the ruts.
For the last two years Jagged X has showed up in full desert race trim and while we have fared well finishing both years on the podium, the heavier platform of the BITD
race car proved to be a disadvantage in the rocky and tight terrain that makes up the KOH course.
This years introduction of the new RZR XP 900 proved to be the perfect fit for this grueling race.
We decided to race the XP completely stock with the exception of the required safety compliance items and a new set of Elka Elite series replacement shocks.
We also decided to equip the car with the proven durable tire / wheel package used on our desert racer.
This package consists of three piece billet center beadlock wheels from OMF Performance, Maxxis bighorn tires and flat prevention from Tireballs.
The safety package consisted of full suspension seats from Renegade here in Phoenix, 5 point harnesses from Simpson Safety, full doors from Pro Armor, and custom window nets again from Renegade.
After a short tuning session the day before the race, we had our brand new fully adjustable Elka Shocks performing perfectly.
These shocks soaked up the huge whoops better than we could have imagined. The best part is that these are bolt on units that require no suspension upgrades or geometry changes.
With only one pre-run of the course under our belt the sun set with race day just few short hours away.
It was not long after the green flag dropped on Thursday morning that Brandon Schueler and co-driver Mike West began to make their way to the front of the field.
The first major rock section found the 1919 car already battling in the top three, and once out of the canyon only reigning champion Mitch Guthrie was between the 900 XP and the checkered flag.
This battle went on for nearly 15 miles as Guthrie's driving skills proved his "King" status.
As the two entered the last and most difficult rock section known as "Aftershock", Brandon zigged while Mitch zagged and the result was an exciting pass made in the
middle of the toughest rock section of the course.
However, it was too soon to declare victory because just a few rocks down the canyon Guthrie took back the lead and the chase was on again.
After the rock section the course smoothes out some and the XP 900 was able to out motor the 800 to the finish, but not without a fight.
This was an exciting race for us and we want to congratulate all of the finishers and thank everyone who came out to race and those who supported the entire event.
As for the stock RZR XP 900! What a great machine. Aside from some scrapes and bruises she's no worse for the wear.
This race is harder on a vehicle than any amount of normal driving conditions and we believe that Polaris is correct when they say that these are the hardest working,
smoothest riding and, for us, the hardest racing off road vehicles in the world!
THANKS POLARIS for making Brandon Schueler, Jagged X and Polaris Racing the 2011 King of The Hammers!

Jagged X with the first custom XP 900 build!
There has been a lot of excitement surrounding the New Years introduction of the all-new Ranger RZR XP 900.
The Jagged X crew along with Polaris were first on the scene to debut this incredible machine on New Year's day in the "Sand toy Capital of the World"... GLAMIS!
The response was nothing less than amazing as we showed the world a whole new class of Side By Side and demonstrated it amazing capabilities.
To add even more fuel to the fire we were contacted by the producers of the popular TV series "Destination Polaris", who asked us to create a purpose built XP
that would highlight the potential of this new machine. We gladly accepted the challenge and the latest Project X was born, the RZR XP 900 "Ultimate Dune machine".
For the project we started with the base model red RZR XP 900. With 88 HP and a top speed over 75 MPH out of the box we left the power plant alone.
We fired up the bender and twisted up a simple but stylish sport cage and a sleek looking front bumper.
The stock Fox shocks are great units but we wanted to be able to fine tune our suspension for ripping up the dunes, so Elka Suspension provided a set of fully adjustable Elite Series shocks complete with piggyback reservoirs.
These shocks offer both high and low speed compression and rebound adjustability along with dual rate springs.
Our friends at Pro Armor were able to send us a set of their all-aluminum full doors.
These great looking doors fit like a glove and are super easy to install.
Full height doors provide added safety and really help keep some of the sand out of your face.
You can't go to the dunes without any tunes, so SSV Works hooked us up with a sweet stereo system complete with amp, speakers and an iPod interface.
SSV Works speaker pods fit perfectly and have a clean finished look as well as sound amazing.
We like to ride at night too, so along with the new factory Polaris dual beam LED headlights our friends at Rigid Industries helped light things up with a 30" LED light bar along with a pair of their new Dually D2 4" lights.
The days of running out of electrical power for all these goodies are over thanks to Polaris and a bigger 750 watt charging system which comes standard on the RZR XP.
At this point the project was coming together nicely, but to finish it right we stripped the car down to the bone and sent the panels and doors to Chad at C.R. Designs
while the tube work and all the control arms went to Affordable Powder Coat for a beautiful lollipop blue candy coat.
As usual C.R. Designs created a stunning Blue & White graphics package that compliments the RZR's edgy lines.
We topped it all off with some bitchen' stitchen' from our friends at Jet Trim in Lake Havasu City who created some trick seat covers to match the whole scheme.
A set of five point Simpson harnesses finished it all off and we were ready to head for Glamis.
Jagged X and Polaris Racing clinch 4th BITD Championship
The "Trans West Ford Henderson 250" marked the final race for the 2010 Best In The Desert racing season.
Lots of energy surrounded this race as many of the class championships were to be decided on the outcome, including the 1900 Pro UTV Championship.
Coming into this race, there were four teams with a real chance to become the UTV Class Champions for 2010.
Playing out all of the different scenarios on paper meant nothing once the flag dropped on Saturday morning
as more than a dozen of the best built UTVs in the world headed off into the desert to settle the score.
The Jagged X Polaris RZR left the line in the 6th starting position and had only gone a few miles before
encountering a small fuel issue which forced the team to pull over and remedy the problem, losing nearly ten minutes of valuable time.
Once they were back on course Brandon wasted no time working his way back to the front of the pack.
By the end the first lap the Jagged X 1919 car was running in the 5th spot and Brandon was able to battle his way to
a third place finish securing the points championship for the 2010 season. Congratulations to Jerome Vinagro (1937)
with an impressive win in his Polaris RZR, moving him into the 2nd place points position.
2010 has been a very challenging season for the 1919 Jagged X / Polaris Racing Team.
After the devastating fire at the Silver State 300 it has been very exciting to be able to battle back to win another championship.
Huge thanks goes out to all of our sponsors who have helped our team to succeed allowing us to
have such a great time racing in the desert and for helping us to prove once again that Polaris
is the Hardest Working, Smoothest Riding and Best Racing UTV in the world!
Thanks again!
Jagged X transforms 4 seat RZR to BITD racer.
When Polaris released the RZR 4 a while back we knew it would not be long before someone ventured outside the box of normal UTV
race setups to explore the unique potential of building a RZR 4 race car.
The Jagged Crew jumped at the opportunity when one of our good customers decided to pull the trigger and have us build an all
out BITD race car based on a RZR 4 chassis. After consulting with BITD and UTVRA officials it was decided that a RZR 4 would
fall into the same rules and specs as any other UTV. After hashing through a bunch of ideas and coming up with what we thought
was a plan, the crew pulled out the Saws-All and went to work. Within a few hours what started out as a nice family off road
cruiser was no more than a skeleton of square tubing and brackets. BTD rules require that certain frame sections and mounting
points be retained to keep the vehicle within the UTV specifications. With all the excess scrap cut from the frame a quick trip
to the sand blaster gave us a clean platform to start building from. The first challenge was to add enough rigidity to the main
frame to be able to withstand the constant beating that is Desert racing. It was decided that the entire car was to be built from
Chromoly and tig welded to maximize the overall strength, and to keep the weight as reasonable as possible.
The RZR 4 platform allowed for many innovative features which have not been possible in the past due to space constraints.
One of the nicest features is the ability to make a larger cockpit with lots more legroom. The fuel cell can now be positioned
behind the seats and very low in the chassis thus lowering the center of gravity and making engine access much easier. This also
keeps the fuel away from the exhaust and the heat of the engine.
This car was equipped with a heavy duty long travel HCR suspension with king shocks, A stylish aluminum dash and deck lid area.
The new location of the fuel cell allows for a logical location for a spare tire. A simple solid color paint job by CR designs round out this awesome car.
The longer wheelbase of the RZR 4 should make for a super smooth ride and allow great high speed stability. Look for this car
at a desert race event near you very soon. More pics in our gallery here.
Blue Water Grand Prix Video!
Jagged X rebounds from Silver State's meltdown
Like the phoenix rising from the ashes, in just three short weeks after the disastrous fire that totally destroyed the 1919 Jagged X / Polaris Racing RZR,
the crew at Jagged X was able to transform the Monster Rock RZR from last seasons Destination Polaris TV show
into a competitive Best In The Desert race machine.
Lining up at the Blue Water Grand Prix, held in Parker, AZ was a long, hard slog against the odds. In what turned out to be a
pleastantly uneventful race for Brandon and co-drive Mike, the RZR steamed home in strong second place in it's maiden outing.
Some great parts sponsors and some late nights along with the support of Polaris made our attendance possible at this race.
It was a great turnout with 17 UTV competitors and only one DNF from the whole field.
This race brings the seasons points competition even closer.
Jagged X is sponsored by Polaris Industries, Mountain States Contracting, Elka Suspension, CR Designs, S&S Off Road,
Simpson Products, ATL Fuel Systems, Tire Balls, MTA, Vision X Off Road, OMF Performance, Affordable Powder Coat,
